Old houses need care. Often new owners find a bargain because many things need to be fixed. But many of the fixtures appropriate to a 1905 house are not to be had in the local Home Depot. At left are a sampling of places, local and mail order, where period appliances, doorknobs, and the like can be found. We have also listed some of the many local services and craftspeople who are familiar with work on historic houses.
We have included a few building supply companies of particular interest to old home owners, and some of the many magazines now published devoted to historic preservation and old home repair.
