Volunteers needed for maintenance work and to finish painting the fence at our neighborhood park, 27th and Budlong, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Last year the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust and the LA Stars basketball
foundation brought out more than 200 volunteers for a renovation of our neighborhood
community park, the Richardson Family Park at 27th Street and Budlong Avenue, including
building new benches and picnic tables and repainting the high fence. This followed up on
the May 2007 re-creation of the damaged 180 foot mural, "It Takes a Village," by artists
from In Creative Unity, with funding by the Empowerment Congress North Area Neighborhood
Development Council.
Now on Sunday, May 4, the nationwide "Big Sunday" community volunteer program has
adopted Richardson Famlily Park for a needed followup. In particular, the repainting of
the high perimeter fence was not completed at the end of the volunteer day last year and
needs a second coat of paint. There is also planting and weeding to be done and a general
cleanup.
Neighbors, come out and join us and the Big Sunday folks to help spruce up our community-built park. Here is the Big Sunday website where you can sign up http://www.bigsunday.org/projects/display/id/0124/, or just come to the park at 10:00 am on May 4.
