Photo: The original Exposition Park Branch Library, 1923. The library was then located at 34th and Hoover. It was later moved to a different building at 36th and Vermont.

In the collection below we have grouped together a set of photographs of the Ebell Club, a prominent Los Angeles women's club that was built at 18th and Figueroa in the 1890s and for which the Library had photographs going up to 1933.

[The Ebell Club was the largest women's organization in Los Angeles in its day. It was founded in 1894 in a pattern originated by Dr. Adrian Ebell of Berlin in a club created in Oakland, California, in 1876. The building pictured in this set of photos was constructed in 1906. The Los Angeles Ebell Club hosted a national Mother's Congress in 1907 focused on child education, and issued yearbooks into the teens of the twentieth century.
